A deep stack contains many big blinds and can support several substantial betting rounds. The relevant depth is often the effective stack against an opponent, rather than your own chips alone. What counts as deep depends on the game and context.
Example of Deep Stack:
You and an opponent each have $600 in a $1/$2 cash game. The effective stack between you is 300 big blinds, allowing deep-stack play.
