Hands & Draws

Backup low describes additional low-card support that can preserve a strong low after a key rank is duplicated. It is especially relevant when a low draw can be counterfeited.

Example

Example of Backup Low

You hold ace-two-five-king in Omaha Hi-Lo on a three-four-eight board. If an ace arrives, the two-five combination gives you another way to build a qualifying low.
