The chip leader has the largest stack among the players being referenced. The term can describe a table, a flight or the entire tournament, so context matters. Leading in chips does not guarantee winning the event.
Example of Chip Leader:
You have 180,000 chips, while every other player at your table has less. You are the table's chip leader, even if someone at another table has more.
