Daniel Negreanu is heading home to Canada as the World Series of Poker prepares to launch its first WSOP Super Circuit festival in the country.
Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec, just outside Montreal, will host the series from August 26 to September 12. The schedule includes 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and more than CA$14 million in guarantees.
At the center of it all is a huge CA$5,000 Main Event carrying a CA$10 million guarantee.
Negreanu will be among the biggest names making the trip.
The Canadian poker legend confirmed Montreal as the first stop on his latest travel schedule, before heading west to Vancouver to stream GGPoker’s online WSOP action.
It also gives Negreanu another opportunity to add something surprisingly absent from his poker résumé: a WSOP Circuit ring.
Negreanu Returns to Canada After Eighth Bracelet
Negreanu arrives back in his home country following another successful summer in Las Vegas.
The 52-year-old won his eighth WSOP bracelet in July, defeating a 246-entry field in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship for $1,146,970.
That victory moved Negreanu further up the all-time bracelet rankings and continued a strong period for one of poker’s most enduring stars.
Now the focus switches from Las Vegas to Montreal.
Negreanu has already confirmed that Playground will be part of one of his final poker trips before becoming a father.
The trip also creates an unusual target for a player who has won virtually everything else during his career. Despite eight bracelets and more than $50 million in live tournament earnings, Negreanu has never won a WSOP Circuit ring.
Canada would be an appropriate place to change that.
CA$14 Million Guaranteed at Playground
The first WSOP Super Circuit Canada is considerably bigger than a standard Circuit stop.
Play begins on August 26 with a CA$500 Super Circuit Kickoff carrying a CA$150,000 guarantee.
A CA$500 Mini Main Event follows with CA$500,000 guaranteed, before the CA$1,000 Mystery Bounty begins on August 29 with a CA$400,000 guarantee.
The schedule then moves into its biggest tournaments.
The CA$2,300 Super Circuit Championship guarantees CA$500,000, while the CA$14,000 GGMillion$ High Roller has CA$1 million guaranteed.
A CA$25,000 Super High Roller is also scheduled for September 8.
Nothing, however, compares with the Main Event.
CA$10 Million Main Event Could Make Canadian Poker History
The CA$5,000 WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event begins on September 3 and comes with a CA$10 million guarantee.
That figure alone makes the inaugural Super Circuit stop one of the most ambitious live poker festivals ever staged in Canada.
Playground already has some history here.
Its 2025 WSOP Circuit Main Event attracted 1,978 entries and generated a CA$4,450,500 prize pool, setting a new WSOP Circuit prize pool record at the time.
Jacob Hobday eventually won that tournament for CA$620,000 after qualifying through a CA$75 satellite.
The Super Circuit now takes the venue’s WSOP ambitions considerably further.
The Main Event guarantee is more than twice the entire prize pool generated by that record-setting 2025 tournament.
Negreanu Joined by Mizrachi and Poker Creators
Negreanu will not be the only familiar face at Playground.
The festival will also feature a special Creator Championship connected to the CA$5,000 Main Event.
Negreanu and Michael Mizrachi are among those confirmed, alongside a large group of poker creators including Abby Poker, Corey Eyring, Masato Yokosawa, Greg Goes All In and Andy Stacks.
Han Feng is also part of the lineup after his remarkable summer. The Chinese player reached the 2026 WSOP Main Event final table before making another deep run at EPT Barcelona.
For Poker Type readers, two other names should be particularly familiar.
Abby Merk has built a sizeable poker audience through her AbbyPoker content and will be part of the Creator Championship field, while Corey Eyring’s rise as a poker creator has also earned him a place in Montreal.
The creator who lasts longest in the Main Event will win Playground’s Creator Championship belt.
Players Can Share the Table With Poker’s Biggest Names
Playground is also putting Negreanu and other high-profile players directly onto the felt with qualifiers.
A special Meet-Up Game takes place on September 2, one day before the Main Event begins.
Negreanu, Mizrachi, Dan “Jungleman” Cates, Jonathan Little, Jeff Platt, Kitty Kuo and Kevin Martin are among the confirmed names.
Several of the Creator Championship players will participate too.
The low-stakes cash game is reserved for players who qualify for the Super Circuit through GGPoker, although Playground says seating will be randomized and players are not guaranteed a table with a particular guest.
It gives the inaugural Canadian Super Circuit something beyond the tournament guarantees.
For Negreanu, meanwhile, the trip has an obvious personal element. Born in Toronto and established as Canada’s most successful tournament player, opportunities to compete in major WSOP events on home soil have been relatively rare during his career.
This time there is a CA$10 million Main Event waiting for him.
And perhaps, finally, a first Circuit ring.
