A big blind ante is an ante posted by the big-blind player on behalf of the table, in addition to the big blind itself. It seeds the pot without requiring every player to post an individual ante. Short-stack procedures depend on the event rules.
Example of Big Blind Ante:
The blinds are 500/1,000 with a 1,000 big blind ante. A player with enough chips posts 2,000 from the big blind: 1,000 as the blind and 1,000 as the ante.
