Fold equity is the value created by the chance that an opponent will fold to your bet or raise. It is one reason aggressive plays can be profitable even when your hand is not currently ahead. Example You shove a strong draw on the flop. Even if your draw is behind when called, the play can still be profitable because some better hands may fold immediately.
