Doug Polk has announced he is stepping away from his active role at The Lodge Card Club, bringing an end to his day-to-day involvement with one of the largest poker clubs in Texas.
The three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner confirmed the decision in a statement shared on social media, explaining that increasing business commitments and family priorities had led him to step away from operations. He will, however, remain a shareholder in the business.
Remains An Owner
Although Polk will no longer be involved in running the club, he stressed that his investment in The Lodge remains unchanged.
He said the card room would continue under its existing leadership team, adding that he has confidence in the people now responsible for its future.
The announcement marks the end of an important chapter for Polk, who became a co-owner of The Lodge alongside fellow poker personalities Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen in 2022. Under their ownership, the club established itself as one of the most recognisable live poker venues in the United States.
Eventful Year For The Lodge
Polk’s decision follows an eventful few months for The Lodge.
Earlier this year, the club temporarily closed after Texas authorities carried out an investigation into alleged gambling offences. The venue later reopened after the disruption, allowing tournaments and cash games to resume. No criminal charges were announced against Polk or the club’s ownership in connection with the investigation.
Despite stepping back from daily operations, Polk made it clear that he believes the club is well positioned to continue growing under its current management.

Polk has spent more than a decade as one of poker’s most recognisable figures, building a reputation through high-stakes heads-up matches, educational content, YouTube videos and podcast appearances alongside his tournament success.
His departure from active management means fans are likely to see less of him representing The Lodge on a day-to-day basis, although he is expected to remain involved in poker through his other business interests and content creation.
With his ownership stake intact, Polk’s relationship with The Lodge is far from over, but operational responsibility now passes fully to the existing management team as the Texas poker room enters its next phase.
