CoinPoker’s first Global Online Poker Championship has moved beyond its headline $50 million guarantee before the biggest tournament on the schedule has even reached Day 2.
The operator says just under $60 million has already been awarded across more than 4,900 tournaments, with over 42,000 unique players taking part. That turns the original $50 million figure from an ambitious marketing number into something the series has cleared with almost a week of meaningful action still on the board.
For CoinPoker, the timing matters. The GOPC has spent September running directly into the busiest online poker traffic of the year, alongside PokerStars WCOOP and the WSOP Online series on GGPoker. Clearing the guarantee in that company is a stronger signal than doing it in a quiet patch of the calendar.
$50 Million Target Falls Before the Main Event
CoinPoker launched the GOPC on August 23 with regional schedules for Europe, Latin America and Asia, three buy-in tiers and more than 700 medal events. Poker Type covered the original $50 million GOPC announcement before the series began, when the guarantee itself was the story.
The picture now looks rather different. PokerScout reported on September 22 that the championship had passed the $50 million mark and was approaching $60 million in money awarded. CoinPoker also reported more than 42,000 participating players and said its traffic reached 30,000 concurrent players on Sunday, September 20.
Those figures are operator-reported rather than independently audited traffic numbers, but the tournament results provide a more tangible measure of demand. The September 20 edition of the $215 CoinMillion attracted 5,181 entries and produced a $1.03 million prize pool, narrowly beating its $1 million guarantee.
GBortoleto won that edition for $121,753. It followed previous September CoinMillion wins by fish2025 and FINALVERDICT7, with Poker Type reporting how FINALVERDICT7 topped a 5,321-entry field for $123,979 earlier in the festival.
The Biggest Test Is Still Waiting
Passing the series guarantee does not mean CoinPoker can put its feet up. The flagship $530 Main Event carries a $3 million guarantee, the largest single guarantee in the GOPC, and its surviving players return for Day 2 on September 28.
There is also one final $215 CoinMillion on September 27 with another $1 million guaranteed. The closing schedule includes the $1,500 CoinMasters BTC High Roller with a $1 million guarantee and a $10,300 High Roller Championship guaranteeing $500,000, so a meaningful chunk of the festival’s headline action is still to come.
The GOPC structure was designed to create volume rather than lean entirely on a handful of nosebleed events. CoinPoker split the schedule across regional time zones and low, mid and high buy-in tiers, while the three Main Event levels alone carry $4.25 million in combined guarantees. The $530 flagship accounts for $3 million, the $55 Global Main for $1 million and the $11 Mini Main for $250,000.
That approach has also produced some enormous fields. The September 13 CoinMillion drew 5,321 entries, while this week’s edition still managed 5,181 despite landing in the middle of WCOOP and the closing stages of WSOP Online.
A Useful Marker for CoinPoker’s Growth
The more interesting part of the story is what the numbers say about CoinPoker’s place in the online market. A $50 million series guarantee asks players to keep turning up for more than a month, across thousands of tournaments, rather than simply filling one heavily promoted Sunday major.
There have been bumps along the way. Poker Type reported on technical problems during the opening GOPC weekend, making the later traffic and prize-pool figures particularly relevant. The festival recovered from that awkward start and has now reached its original prize-pool target before the final weekend.
CoinPoker has also attached $350,000 in additional leaderboard and promotional money to the championship. More than 700 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are being awarded, with Gold winners receiving physical trophies as well as digital medals in their accounts.
None of that guarantees that the $3 million Main Event will cruise past its own target. Multi-flight Main Events live and die by late registration and the final batch of starting flights, and that is now the number worth watching.
Still, the wider series no longer needs the Main Event to rescue its headline promise. The $50 million guarantee has already been cleared, the reported payout total is closing on $60 million and one of the largest tournaments in CoinPoker history is still waiting to be decided. For a festival that began with a very large number hanging over it, that is a considerably more comfortable way to enter the final week.
