Charlie Carrel has revealed why poker fans haven’t seen him at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas for almost a decade. In a recent YouTube video, the high-stakes pro explained that he remains banned from entering the United States following an arrest during a trip to Las Vegas in 2017.
According to Carrel, the incident began when US customs officers searched his luggage and discovered pills in his possession. He spent one night in a Nevada jail and says the consequences continue to affect his ability to enter the country more than eight years later.
The revelation helps explain why one of poker’s most recognizable personalities has missed multiple WSOP series despite remaining active in poker content creation and coaching.
