Dead Money in Poker

Dead money is chips already in the pot from players who are unlikely to continue or can no longer win them back without further action. The extra money can improve the reward for making an aggressive play. Example Two players limp for 500 and then fold after you raise and another player calls. Their 1,000 chips remain in the pot as dead money.
