Check-Raise
A check-raise happens when a player checks, allows an opponent to bet, and then raises that bet on the same betting round. It can be used for value with strong hands or as a bluff.
Example
You check the flop from the big blind. Your opponent bets 20 into a 30 pot and you raise to 70. You have check-raised.
