WPT Global has climbed to fourth place in the global online poker traffic rankings after new cash-game data revealed a much bigger picture of the online poker site’s player activity.

SharkScope Analytics has started tracking WPT Global cash games alongside its existing tournament numbers. The change has lifted the site’s PRO Score from around 1,500 to approximately 2,000 and moved WPT Global ahead of CoinPoker in the latest rankings.
For a poker site that only launched in 2022, fourth place represents significant progress.
But the story is about more than a change in how traffic is measured. WPT Global has spent four years attempting to turn one of poker’s best-known live tournament brands into a major international online poker network.
The latest numbers suggest it is succeeding.
WPT Global Reaches Fourth in Global Poker Rankings
Until recently, SharkScope Analytics tracked WPT Global’s multi-table tournament entries but not its cash games.
That left a substantial part of the site’s poker activity outside the rankings.
Once cash games were included, WPT Global’s PRO Score jumped from approximately 1,500 to around 2,000.
It reached an all-time high of 2,217 on August 25 before settling at just below 2,000.
That was enough to move WPT Global into fourth position and above CoinPoker, which had a PRO Score of approximately 1,816 based on a 30-day hull moving average.
The sudden increase does not mean thousands of new players arrived at WPT Global overnight.
Much of that activity was already taking place. It simply was not being included in SharkScope’s previous measurement.
What the expanded data does provide is a better indication of just how large WPT Global has become.
WPT Global Traffic: The Key Numbers
The latest data puts WPT Global’s growth into perspective:
- WPT Global is now fourth in the PRO global online poker traffic rankings.
- Its PRO Score increased from around 1,500 to approximately 2,000 after cash-game tracking was added.
- WPT Global reached a record PRO Score of 2,217 on August 25, 2026.
- The site moved above CoinPoker, which was sitting at approximately 1,816.
- SharkScope Analytics tracks traffic across 36 online poker networks.
- 19 of the top 20 sites now have both tournament and cash-game activity measured.
- 29 of the 36 tracked networks have data available for both formats.
The inclusion of cash games is particularly significant for WPT Global because recreational cash-game liquidity has become a central part of its strategy.
What Is WPT Global?
WPT Global is an international real-money online poker platform associated with the World Poker Tour.
It launched in April 2022, almost exactly 20 years after the World Poker Tour was founded.
The two should not be confused.
The World Poker Tour is the long-established live tournament and poker entertainment brand behind WPT events around the world. WPT Global is its international online poker platform, offering cash games, tournaments and routes into live WPT events.
That connection gave WPT Global something most new poker sites have to spend years building.
A recognizable name.
The World Poker Tour was one of the driving forces behind poker’s television boom during the 2000s, helping turn professional players into recognizable personalities while taking major casino tournaments to an international audience.
WPT Global is now attempting to translate that history into online poker traffic.
How Has WPT Global Grown So Quickly?
Breaking into the top tier of online poker is difficult.
Liquidity creates an enormous advantage for established operators. Players want cash games running when they log in and tournaments with attractive guarantees and large fields.
More players create more games. More games attract more players.
WPT Global entered that market with the advantage of an established poker brand and a direct connection to one of the game’s biggest live tournament circuits.
Players can qualify online for WPT events, creating a bridge between playing on a phone or computer and competing at major live tournaments.
The WPT itself has produced some of poker’s most famous champions.
Daniel Negreanu won two WPT titles during his extraordinary career, while players including Gus Hansen, Antonio Esfandiari, Carlos Mortensen and Darren Elias have all played major roles in the tour’s history.
That heritage gives WPT Global a poker identity that extends well beyond its software.
Cash Games Are Central to WPT Global
The addition of cash-game tracking matters because WPT Global has made recreational cash-game liquidity an important part of its product.
Rather than simply opening every table to every player, WPT Global uses technology designed to manage the balance between highly skilled professionals and recreational players.
Its approach is intended to prevent tables becoming overwhelmed by experienced players specifically seeking weaker opposition.
That is an unusual part of the WPT Global proposition.
Traditional online poker ecosystems often allow professional players to identify and pursue the most profitable games available. WPT Global has instead placed the sustainability of its recreational player pool much closer to the centre of its model.
The approach will not appeal equally to every professional.
But for WPT Global, keeping casual players at the tables appears to be an important part of building long-term liquidity.
The new traffic data gives a better indication of how substantial those cash games have become.
WPT Global Uses AI to Protect Its Poker Games
Technology also plays a major role in how WPT Global operates.
Its poker platform is supplied by A5 Labs, which has developed artificial intelligence-based systems used for both game integrity and player ecology.
AceGuardian is designed to identify bots, collusion and other suspicious activity.
FairGame is used to help manage how different types of players are distributed across the poker ecosystem.
That has become increasingly important as online poker faces a new generation of technological threats.
Bots are not new, but artificial intelligence, real-time assistance and increasingly sophisticated poker software have made detecting unfair play one of the industry’s biggest challenges.
WPT Global is effectively fighting technology with technology.
The aim is not only to catch cheating after it happens, but to make automated and predatory play increasingly difficult within the ecosystem itself.
Phil Ivey Leads WPT Global’s Poker Ambassadors
WPT Global has also invested heavily in players and creators capable of putting recognizable faces behind the brand.
Phil Ivey is the headline name.
One of the most successful players in poker history, Ivey provides a direct connection between the WPT’s original television era and the modern online game.
The wider WPT Global ambassador roster has included:
- Phil Ivey
- Fintan “EasyWithAces” Hand
- Ethan “Rampage” Yau
- Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet
- Brad Owen
- Angel Guillen
- Lynn Gilmartin
The mixture is significant.
Ivey represents poker’s established elite, while Hand, Yau and Owen belong to a generation that has built substantial audiences through streaming, YouTube and poker vlogging.
Poker fame no longer depends on appearing at a televised final table.
The rise of the poker creator has given operators another way to reach players, particularly audiences who consume poker primarily through YouTube, Twitch and social media.
WPT Global’s ambassador strategy attempts to cover both generations.
From Televised Poker to a Global Online Poker Site
WPT Global’s growth completes an interesting circle for the World Poker Tour.
The WPT was founded in 2002 and became one of the defining products of the poker boom.
Its televised tournaments turned major poker events into entertainment and helped players including Negreanu, Ivey and Gus Hansen become familiar names beyond casino poker rooms.
The way people watch poker has since changed dramatically.
Traditional television has been joined by livestreams, YouTube, Twitch, short-form video and player-produced content.
The return of major poker to mainstream television shows that traditional broadcasting still matters, but online platforms now compete for the same audience.
WPT Global puts the World Poker Tour directly into that digital market.
Instead of simply asking people to watch WPT poker, it gives them somewhere to play it.

Is WPT Global Now One of Online Poker’s Biggest Sites?
Fourth place does not make WPT Global the largest online poker site in the world.
It does make describing it as a small or emerging operator increasingly difficult.
Online poker has historically been a difficult industry for new networks to penetrate precisely because the biggest operators already have the liquidity players are looking for.
A new poker site can offer good software, promotions and tournaments, but none of those things matter for long if players cannot find opponents.
WPT Global appears to have crossed that crucial barrier.
Its combination of tournament poker, cash-game liquidity, recreational-player protections, poker creators and routes into major WPT live events has produced a substantial international player pool.
And it has done so in around four years.
What WPT Global’s Fourth Place Really Means
There is an important caveat to the latest rankings.
WPT Global did not suddenly gain all of this traffic when SharkScope switched on its cash-game tracking.
Those players were already playing.
The measurement improved.
That arguably makes the development more interesting rather than less.
We now have a clearer indication of the scale WPT Global has already reached.
The company has taken one of poker’s most famous tournament brands, connected it to an international online network and built a substantial cash-game ecosystem around it.
Online poker’s hierarchy has changed before.
PokerStars dominated the international market for years before GGPoker emerged as a serious global rival. Other operators have attempted to break into that top group with varying levels of success.
WPT Global is still some distance from becoming the industry’s dominant operator.
Fourth place nevertheless puts another name firmly into the conversation.
And after just four years, the more interesting question may be how much further WPT Global can climb.
