Sometimes you get a read right. On Monday, 2 November, PokerType asked whether Lex Veldhuis was about to become GGPoker’s next ambassador. On Tuesday, GG turned over the cards. The Dutch streamer has joined GGTeam as its Global Streaming Ambassador.

After 17 years wearing a PokerStars patch, Veldhuis left his former sponsor in January and spent much of 2026 playing and streaming on GGPoker without an ambassador contract. Now the relationship is official. And there is more to this deal than sticking another logo on his stream.
Lex Confirms His GGPoker Deal on X
Veldhuis announced the signing himself on 3 November, saying the action on GG had brought back his appetite for grinding. Here’s his announcement:
In GGPoker’s official announcement, Veldhuis said he had played exclusively on GG over the past year and had been impressed by the software and tournament sizes. That matters because fans have already watched him put in the volume. This isn’t a signing followed by a hurried attempt to learn the client.
Daniel Negreanu welcomed the move, calling Veldhuis an “absolute titan in the poker streaming world”. Negreanu and Michael Mizrachi are among the names already representing GGTeam.
What Will Lex Veldhuis Actually Do for GGPoker?
His job title is Global Streaming Ambassador, and GG has described three main parts to the partnership:
- Regular GGPoker streams. Viewers can follow his tournament sessions, hand analysis and the usual MTT swings on Twitch.
- Support for poker content creators. He will promote GGPoker’s Streamer Mode and the tools offered to approved broadcasters.
- Community tournaments and promotions. GG says Lex-specific events and offers are planned for his followers.
That last point is one to watch. GG has not announced dates, buy-ins, prize pools or eligibility rules for the promised Lex community events. For now, anyone advertising a particular freeroll or giveaway as part of this deal is getting ahead of the announcement. The partnership’s financial terms have not been disclosed either.
What Is GGPoker Streamer Mode, and Can Other Players Use It?
This is where the story gets interesting for players who stream their own sessions. GG’s existing Streamer Mode programme is open to approved creators, not just sponsored professionals. According to its published rules, features include hiding hole cards, a panel for managing tables, a streamer-exclusive avatar border and potential visibility in the client lobby.
The advertised rewards can include up to 100% cashback on poker played while streaming, but that is a maximum, not an automatic payment to every streamer or player.
- GG’s published baseline is three months of poker streaming with an average of at least 40 concurrent viewers, although requirements can vary by country.
- The programme supports Twitch, YouTube and Kick for approved participants.
- Streamer Mode must be enabled to qualify for applicable rewards. Separate play, visibility and conduct requirements apply.
- Approved streamers can apply through GG’s creator programme. Signing up for GGPoker or watching Lex does not automatically make someone eligible for streaming cashback.
There is a real difference between rewarding a broadcaster for streamed play and giving every player 100% rakeback. If you’re considering a GG account for the tournaments, software or promotions, our GGPoker review breaks down the games, welcome offers, bonus clearing, restrictions and withdrawals. From PokerStars Free Agent to GGTeam: How We Got Here
The move makes more sense when you look at what Veldhuis has done since January. He didn’t jump straight from one long sponsorship to another. He played the games, built a fresh streaming routine and made a serious run at the WSOP Online tables.
| When | What happened | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 3 January 2026 | Veldhuis announced the end of his 17-year PokerStars relationship. | He became a free agent after one of poker’s longest-running creator deals. |
| 4 January 2026 | He reported winning his first GGPoker tournament, a $108 Bounty Hunters Special, for around $2,541. | The new client was already appearing on his stream. |
| September 2026 | He finished fifth in the $1,500 WSOP Online Super Turbo Bounty PLO, from 721 entries. | His first WSOP final table in 17 years and another major GG sweat for viewers. |
| 2 November 2026 | PokerType named Lex as a leading candidate after GGPoker teased a new signing. | The clues were there, but there was no confirmation yet. |
| 3 November 2026 | GGPoker confirmed Veldhuis as Global Streaming Ambassador. | The speculation became a signed partnership. |
That PLO run was no small result. Veldhuis had already reached a WSOP final table in 2009, finishing seventh in the $40,000 anniversary event for $277,939. Seventeen years later, he got down to the final five online, as we reported in our WSOP bracelet near-miss story.
He also has more than $707,000 in recorded live tournament cashes, plus a long online career that those live figures don’t capture. For his background, results and move from high-stakes online cash games into Twitch, see our Lex Veldhuis profile.
Why This Signing Matters Beyond Lex’s Stream
GG is adding someone who can do more than wear a patch at a televised final table. Lex has a long-established audience, knows the MTT grind and talks through decisions while playing. He can show viewers what a tournament schedule actually feels like, including the late registrations, big fields, bad beats and long sessions.
He also moves over from GG’s biggest historic rival. PokerStars had him for 17 years. His departure in January gave GG the chance to sign a broadcaster who already had his own community, and his 2026 GG results meant that community had already seen him playing the site.
There is a wider GGTeam angle, too. The roster includes tournament names such as Negreanu and Mizrachi alongside creators including Kevin Martin and UK and Ireland ambassador Leah Hauer. Lex’s global role puts streaming and creator development at the centre of his brief rather than treating broadcasts as an occasional promotional extra.
What’s Next for Lex Veldhuis and His Viewers?
We know he’ll continue playing and streaming on GG. We know community tournaments and promotions are promised. We don’t yet know when the first of those will run, what they’ll cost to enter, or where they’ll be available.
For players, the useful next step is to watch for published event details rather than assume a new ambassador automatically means a freeroll. For streamers, GG’s existing creator programme is worth understanding on its own terms, especially the eligibility threshold and cashback conditions.
And for PokerType? We put Lex’s name in the pot on Monday, said the evidence wasn’t yet a signed contract, and GG confirmed it the next day. Nice when a read gets there. Now let’s see what he does with the patch.
