GGPoker Launches Tournament Money Trading Marketplace

Players in selected regions can now buy and sell tournament money, cash game dollars, and tournament tickets directly through a new peer-to-peer marketplace at GGPoker.

The feature, called Escrow Trade, has been integrated into the GGPoker client and is designed to provide a secure way for players to exchange poker-related assets without relying on informal private arrangements.

What Is Escrow Trade?

Escrow Trade allows players to list and exchange tournament dollars (T$), cash dollars (C$), tournament tickets, and other eligible assets through the GGPoker cashier.

For example, a player holding tournament dollars or a tournament ticket they no longer intend to use can offer it for sale to another player. Once a buyer and seller agree on a deal, the asset is temporarily locked while payment is completed.

According to GGPoker, the built-in escrow system helps ensure both parties receive what was agreed upon before the transaction is finalized.

How the Trading Process Works

The marketplace operates as a peer-to-peer system connecting buyers and sellers within the GGPoker ecosystem.

When a trade is initiated, the asset being sold is held securely during negotiations and payment processing. Once the buyer sends the agreed amount and the conditions are met, the trade is completed and the asset is transferred.

The process is intended to provide additional security compared to traditional player-to-player arrangements that have historically relied on trust between participants.

No Fees for Players

One of the most notable aspects of the new marketplace is that GGPoker is not charging fees for using Escrow Trade.

The feature effectively formalizes a practice that has existed within the poker community for many years, where players have often bought and sold tournament dollars, satellite tickets, and other poker assets through private agreements.

By bringing the process into the poker client itself, GGPoker aims to reduce risk while making these transactions easier to complete.

A New Way to Unlock Value

For tournament players, the new system could provide greater flexibility when managing bankrolls.

Players who win satellite entries but cannot play a target event may now have an option to convert those tickets into cash by finding a willing buyer. Similarly, players looking to enter tournaments at a discount may be able to purchase tournament dollars or tickets below face value.

The feature may prove particularly attractive to high-volume tournament grinders who regularly accumulate tickets and tournament credits through satellite qualifiers and promotional events.

Availability Depends on Location

Escrow Trade is not currently available in all jurisdictions.

GGPoker has restricted access in certain regions due to local regulations, meaning players should check their cashier to see whether the feature is available in their location.

While the marketplace is unavailable in some major markets, its launch represents another step toward bringing long-standing poker community practices into a regulated and secure environment within the client itself.
